1,008 workers take part in early retirement, Telkom Boss discusses impact

The President Director of Telkom, Ririek Adriansyah, opened his voice regarding the early retirement program organized by the company for Telkom employees. Up to 1,000 Telkom employees participated in the early retirement program.

Ririek said this program is Telkom’s way of transforming companies, especially in the current digital age.

“Yes, a few months ago at Telkom there was an early retirement program. Why is that there? So since this (digital) change there have been a number of Telkom employees, let’s say, who have slightly different skills or abilities, different from the needs that we will need in the future,” said Ririek when he met on the sidelines of the Telkom 2024 Bali International Conference (BATIC) in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Tuesday (27/8/2024).

This early retirement program for Telkom employees is aimed at those who are about to enter their retirement period. It is hoped that participation in this program will have a positive effect on both parties.

“Well, because they’re old, their educational background may be limited and it’s very difficult to change or improve, so there’s a win-win, so they enter the retirement program early,” explained Ririek.

Telkom employees who participate in the early retirement program will receive appropriate severance pay. The severance pay can be used as business capital or a career elsewhere.

“For a good worker, rather than being unclear like that, it is better for him to get a severance payment, he can go to another place or do his own business,” he said.

“For Telkom, this is good because there is also efficiency compared to waiting for Telkom to retire but the productivity is low. We are sure it is a win-win solution,” he continued.

So far, as Ririek said, 1,008 Telkom employees have participated in the early retirement program. The majority of those taking the program are those in the technical knowledge field.
