10,000 People risk their lives due to the corona virus every day

KONTAN.CO.ID – NEW YORK. More than 1.5 million people have lost their lives due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) with one death reported on average every nine seconds each week.

Launch Reuters, half a million deaths occurred in just the last two months. This suggests that the severity of the pandemic is far from over. Nearly 65 million people worldwide have been infected by the disease and the worst-hit country, the United States, is currently battling a third wave of coronavirus infections.

In the past week alone, more than 10,000 people worldwide died on average every day, which is increasing every week. Many countries around the world are now battling waves of two and three, even larger than the first. This condition forces the imposition of new restrictions on daily life.

Reuters reports, data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that the new corona virus has caused more deaths in the past year than tuberculosis in 2019 and nearly four times the number of deaths from malaria.

Robert Redfield, head of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, warned Wednesday that the pandemic will create the country’s most severe health crisis over the next few months, before a vaccine is widely available.

“I truly believe this will be the most difficult time in the history of this nation’s public health,” Redfield said in a live streaming presentation organized by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Reuters.

The United States continues to lead in terms of deaths, with more than 273,000 deaths. The North America and Latin America regions combined have more than 50% of all reported coronavirus deaths.

The Latin American region, which is the worst hit globally in terms of deaths, recently reported a death toll to exceed more than 450,000.
