100 students from Burgas created innovative eco-projects with artificial intelligence – 2024-10-29 09:43:00

Nearly 100 students from Burgas developed innovative eco-projects with the help of artificial intelligence within the two-day educational camp “AI for environmental sustainability”. Divided into 16 teams from different schools, the young people searched for solutions to environmental problems through the application of modern technologies.

The main aim of the initiative was to encourage students between the ages of 13 and 18 to explore how innovation can help protect the environment.

The camp is organized by the Association “Center for Creative Education”, which is one of the finalists in the ninth edition of the Vivacom Regional Grant.

Over the course of two days, students engaged in interactive sessions, lectures and real-life group assignments from the Innovation Skills and AI for Youth programs that helped them expand their knowledge of artificial intelligence and work on specific environmental projects . Among the projects were an automatic smart watering system, seawater purification with a solar still, waste management, tackling deforestation, solutions related to fires, pollution, access to food and many more.

“With this camp, we wanted to inspire young people to see how science and technology, especially artificial intelligence, can be a powerful tool to tackle environmental challenges. We believe that the students expanded their knowledge, but also felt the power of teamwork and creative thinking in the search for sustainable solutions. I thank Vivacom Regional Grant for the support and for the trust to realize this innovative project”, commented Reni Dimova from the Association “Centre for creative training”.

Vivacom Regional Grant is the largest socially responsible initiative of the telecom.

With it, the company supports educational and environmental projects of civil organizations from all over the country.

In the ninth completely renewed edition, Vivacom has doubled the grant size, simplified the application process and introduced an accelerator program to better respond to the needs of the NGO sector in the country.

Since the launch of the Vivacom Regional Grant, the telecom company has supported 118 projects of 105 civil organizations, and the total value of the amount exceeds BGN 600,000. The program is implemented in partnership with the Bulgarian Center for Non-Profit Law.
