It is never too late to discover a sport. Julia Hawkins, 105, is living proof.
It was at the age of 101 that the lady from Louisiana started running. Eventually, what was to turn out to be a simple hobby turned into a real passion.
Quickly, Mrs. Hawkins started to run the competitions by sweeping everything in her path! On the track, he’s a real force of nature. It is not nicknamed “Hurricane” by chance.
At the Louisiana 2021 Senior Games held this weekend, the sprinter set a new 100-meter record in the 105-and-over category by crossing the distance in 1: 02.95.

Competition for Hurricane Hawkins
TMZ Sports reports that the Louisiana Senior Games are among the qualifying tournaments for the Senior National Games, the next to be held in May 2022 in Florida.
We do not know if Julia “Hurricane” Hawkins will be there. If she takes part at the start, this former teacher could well see one of her sisters warming her buttocks …
Indeed, this summer, a certain Diane “Flash” Friedman beat Mrs. Hawkins’ mark in the 100 meters by more than three seconds. The Cleveland, Ohio resident is now the fastest centenarian in the world.
We love this sport (and the bling) ????
100-year old Diane « Flash » Friedman clocked 36.71 in the 100m and 1:29.78 in the 200m, followed by the javelin, at the recent Michigan Senior Olympics Track and Field Meet. pic.twitter.com/m0f12OiTtK

The two running queens have never faced each other before. Five years separate them, which gives a significant advantage to Flash Friedman, the youngest.
The duel promises to be exciting.
