100 Makassar thugs arrested after the issuance of the Chief of Police’s Instructions

Police secured one hundred thug when conducting raids of thuggery at several points in the City Makassar, South Sulawesi, Saturday (12/6).

The operation carried out by joint officers from the Makassar Polrestabes targeted thugs under the guise of illegal parking attendants, Pak reluctant and buskers who often interfere with the activities and comfort of Makassar City residents.

The Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation at the Makassar Police, AKP Sugeng Afriyanto, said that his party carried out a thuggery operation following instructions from the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

“The location is on all protocol roads and places that are considered prone to security disturbances and traffic disturbances in Makassar City. We have secured around 100 thugs,” said Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation at Makassar Police when met at the location.

In general, these thugs act as illegal parking attendants who often ask for parking fees that are not in accordance with the normal price, thus disrupting traffic flow.

“They often park illegally, blaming when people’s vehicles are about to cross. We also arrested three thugs who were drinking alcohol on the roadside,” he said.

This operation, according to Sugeng, is not just for thuggery. However, for all activities that have the potential to disturb the comfort and safety of Makassar City residents.

“Including illegal racing, gambling and other criminal acts. This operation will continue, tonight we will go back down,” he explained.

Furthermore, said Sugeng, the hundred thugs who have been arrested will undergo further examination at the Makassar Police Headquarters.

“We will check intensively, continue to call parents or RT/RW and we will coordinate with the Makassar City Social Service,” he said.
