The police and customs continue to detain so-called collectors in the port of Rotterdam. These are mostly young people who remove drugs from containers on behalf of criminal organisations. Last night it happened again: a container was delivered to a terminal on the Maasvlakte, which, according to the police, contained four collectors.

It concerns two boys of 16, a man of 18 and a man of 26. The suspects come from Mijdrecht and Rotterdam. A 37-year-old driver from Poland was also arrested.

There were also arrests the night before. Customs saw that three men climbed over the fence of a terminal in Eemhaven and were picked up by a taxi. All four were arrested and handed over to the police for investigation.

Over the past three months, the police have regularly arrested people in the port on suspicion of collecting drugs from containers. So far this year there have been at least a hundred in total. A police spokesperson cannot yet say whether that is a lot compared to previous years.
