We shape cultural education. Cultural education shapes us.
Over the past ten years, as a foundation, we have campaigned for a major educational goal: Anchoring cultural education as part of general education in schools. We wanted to achieve this goal in all 16 federal states by 2025. With our programs and projects, we will achieve it by the end of 2022. As a flexible and learning foundation, we have therefore decided not to continue the topic of “cultural education”.
In our new strategy phase, which begins in January 2021, the topic will no longer exist. In terms of our strategic way of working, this is a logical and consistent decision for us: It enables us to devote our limited resources to new challenges and goals. With this certainty, we now want to look back on what has been achieved in the past ten years, express our thanks to our long-term project partners and dare to look into the future.
We are doing this as part of our event “Mercator Forum: 10 Years of Cultural Education” in October 2020. This brochure has also been published. It would like to be a small but fine legacy – and a stimulus for everyone who takes responsibility in education and culture and shapes changes.
