Ten years’ imprisonment for the 51-year-old Franco Di Pierno from San Severo, believed to be the perpetrator of the attack against a major of the Guardia di Finanza. This is what the Court of Naples decided, which in the trial celebrated with the abbreviated procedure, accepted the requests of the Neapolitan Prosecutor’s Office. The facts refer to what happened in Bacoli, in the Neapolitan hinterland, on 21 March 2023, when a bomb was placed in the car of a financier, 35-year-old Gabriele Agostino, with an attempt to kill him, an attempt which only by a miracle did not succeed in port. An attempted murder which, according to those investigating, had not only the perpetrator but also an instigator. According to the reconstruction made by detectives and investigators, in fact, Di Pierno acted on commission: the one who ordered the murder, which fortunately did not go through, was in fact the financier’s ex-partner, Viviana Pagliarone, a lawyer from the Foggia Court, in prison for about a month. She would have been the creator of the plan which aimed to kill the financier, with whom relations had broken down with the consequent conflictual phase of the separation and with the woman who would have tried to prevent him from seeing the child born in the relationship. A series of mutual complaints leading up to the attack, immortalized in the images of the video surveillance system. From the investigations of the Carabinieri of the Naples investigative unit, it emerged that Di Pierno carried out several inspections before placing the bomb and detonating it using a remote control. Another man from San Severo, Ciro Caliendo, Di Pierno’s former brother-in-law, is also under investigation in the matter, suspected of having made the bomb. Ciro Caliendo is still under investigation for the death of his wife, Lucia Salcone, who died in a road accident last September and was charred at night inside the car, a Fiat 500. A dynamic which, however, did not convince the investigators and the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Foggia, which investigated the man for voluntary homicide.
