Düsseldorf The young Düsseldorfer has a special talent that she can show on the TV show. What it’s about and which celebrity she will compete against.
On Saturday evening (February 3rd), 8:15 p.m., celebrities will compete against children and young people in the ARD program. In “Small vs. Big – The Incredible Duel”, “little experts” meet television celebrities in ten duels and show what they can do in their various disciplines. On Saturday, for example, designer Guido Maria Kretschmer will be challenged in the “bridal dress duel,” actor Heino Ferch on the high wire and singer Jan Delay in a hip-hop battle. And Wigald Boning has to deal with a woman from Düsseldorf.
Düsseldorfer has a special talent
The comedian and television presenter had to compete in the “Kreuzblick duel” with Lucia (10), who lives in Düsseldorf-Unterbach. It was important to look very closely: With over 1,000 passport photos displayed on two monitors at the same time, the two had to identify any errors as quickly as possible. This cannot be achieved without maximum concentration and well-trained eyes. No secret: the show is not live, so it has already been recorded. Of course, it won’t be revealed yet who won – but if you want to know, you should tune in on Saturday.

But what can be said: Lucia, who is in the fifth grade at a high school in Erkrath, was well prepared. In the past, she often found herself slipping in line when reading. That’s why she’s been undergoing eye training with an optometrist for some time now. “That’s where I learned to look at the cross,” she says. “That’s when I realized that I could do it really well.” Her eye trainer also noticed this. He had already worked with a child who was invited to a “Kreuzblick duel” on the ARD show. The eye specialist suggested that Lucia compete there too. “I was still thinking about whether I could do it,” says the ten-year-old. She had seen the game show many times with her two older siblings and had long wanted to be there herself. So the Düsseldorf woman finally accepted the offer.
The family received two monitors from the makers of “Small vs. Large” that are also used in the show. “It allowed me to practice every day,” says Lucia. Her parents helped her, she says. Lucia’s participation in the show was “a great thing,” says her father Stephan. “As a father, I am very proud that she can do this. And especially that she dared to do it!” The family traveled to Berlin together for the filming. The father was impressed by how well the ARD show team looked after the family: “It was really fun, we were looked after and supported very well there,” he says.
Lucia got an autograph from television star Plum
Lucia remained “very relaxed” on the day of filming, she says. It was only backstage that she became nervous. “But it was okay to be on stage. I don’t think anyone could tell that I was nervous,” says the young Düsseldorfer. Overall, she is happy about a “cool experience” on the ARD show. After filming, the participants and families were able to have a little chat with presenter Kai Pflaume and the other celebrities. Lucia was particularly looking forward to seeing Kai Pflaume, she reveals – and of course she also got an autograph.
Her siblings and friends think that she took part in the television show “very cool,” says Lucia. Many friends would have liked to come along and sit in the audience. On Saturday the family watches the show together, and a friend and her grandparents also come to visit. Lucia and her whole family are really looking forward to seeing the finished show, they say.
