VIVA – Story kosmonaut time Uni Soviet named Sergei Krikalev is an interesting thing. How come? when Krikalev can watch Earth from the station outer space MIR, he did not know his hot picture of politics had destroyed his country’s Soviets.

Krikalev made a mission to leave Earth by spacecraft on May 18, 1991. He therefore had to stay for 5 months on a space station orbiting Earth. There he served with one Russian cosmonaut and one British cosmonaut.

Reported BBC, the MIR space station was a symbol of the strength of the Soviet Union. But when Krikalev was busy there, it turned out that his country was falling apart and then it broke. Krikalev, who was not sure about returning home, ended up having to stay in space at least twice as long as the schedule. It reportedly had an effect on his body and mind.

More than 10 months in orbit, the cosmonaut finally made it back to Earth on March 25, 1992. But by that time the Soviet Union was no longer there. Therefore Sergei Krikalev can be said to be the last citizen of the Soviet Union. Krikalev’s story is actually unique and tragic.

It is said that during his long orbit in space, Krikalev tried to talk to anyone he could reach on Earth by operating the radio. That includes ways to keep him sane and survive.

This made him like a public figure and considered the last citizen of the Soviet Union. While other cosmonauts in the same orbit do not do this.

A historian named Cathleen Lewis who researched the space museum and included studying Krikalev’s story says that the cosmonaut was actually well informed about what happened in the Soviets. He could know this from informal radio conversations from people in the West. Even though the Soviet Union gave information that all was well.
