ENTHUSIASM gamers during the pandemic on the PlayStation 5 don’t seem to need to be asked anymore. Sony reports that they have sold more than 10 million PlayStation consoles since their 2020 release.
Quotes The Verge, in April 2021 Sony reported that 7.8 million units of the PS5 were sold and in July up more than two million sales. In doing so, the PS5 has surpassed the sales of the PS4 and made it the fastest-selling console in Sony’s history.
The PS5 may be selling well, but Sony continues to provide it in a limited way and some are still hard to buy due to a global shortage of chips.

On the other hand, the ‘rival’, Microsoft, reports that sales of the Xbox Series S and X are their fastest selling consoles compared to the previous generation.
Daniel Ahmad, a senior analyst at Niko Partners, shared an estimate on Twitter that the Xbox Series X/S will have total sales of 6.5 million units as of June 30, 2021. This figure is up from previous estimates of 5.7 for the Xbox One and five million units. for Xbox 360.
