Lommel had to fight for the 3 points in the 93rd minute. In the Sovereign Stadium, where spectators (to a limited extent) were admitted for the first time this season, no fewer than 4 goals were scored in the 1st half.
The ball was in the start of the match for Lommel, but it was Petrov who gave the visitors a good lead after 13 minutes. Just after half an hour, Ugalde brought the home team alongside with a quick slide into the side net.
But coach Tom Van Imschoot’s team seemed to go into halftime with a lead, when Allach fired in a penalty after a foul on Petrov.
On the stroke of half time, however, everything could be done again, Captain Neven buffed a nice cross against the net: 2-2.
After the break, both teams kept each other in balance. 2 minutes before the end, Lommel midfielder Thordarson received a 2nd yellow card. With a man less, however, Lommel still took the 3 points. After all, the ref pointed to the spot in the extra time after a foul by Santermans on Aabbou.
Hendrickx stayed cool and gave Lierse the full loot and 4 out of 9, just as much as Lierse K. Lierse is 3rd, Lommel 4th. Seraing, which receives Westerlo on Sunday, leads with 6 points. Union, which will visit Club Brugge’s reserves on Sunday, also has 4 points.
