The Mediterranean coast offers us images of a serene, bright sea and short waves, perfect to be contemplated from the strategic corners of its lighthouses. The one of Calella, in Barcelona; the one with the tip of the Fangar, in Tarragona; the one of the islas Columbreles, in Castellón; those of Cullera Y Gandia, in Valencia; those of Cape San Antonio, La Nao, Albir point and the isla from Tabarca, in Alicante; or Cabo de Palos Y Portman, in Murcia, are just some of those that we can visit before arriving at the Cabo de Gata.
In this place where ends the south east of the peninsula, was the old castle of San Francisco de Paula. Today, the lighthouse that was commissioned in 1863, more than 50 meters above sea level, has next to it the viewpoint of the Sirens, from which you can see a good part of the Almeria coastline. Its lighting, which was suspected of transmitting signals to German submarines, has been modified several times and now reaches 30 miles, enough distance to alert of the dangerous Cape Laja, which has caused so many shipwrecks.
After a swim in the nearby Las Salinas beach, you can continue the route with the headlights of Iron Castle and from Capo Sacratif, in Granada; or that of Torrox Y The lamppost, In Malaga.
