Despite the wind which swept the course, and the promise of a few moments of suffering for the less experienced in this kind of tests, all the participants of the 2020 edition of the 10 kilometers SN Diffusion de Castres had a smile on their lips, or rather in the eyes due to the wearing of masks, before setting off. A smile that betrayed the happiness of being able to participate in a sports competition again after months of frustration due to the health crisis and confinement. A return to life, a real breath of fresh air, which should not however make you forget the precautions to be taken. Despite a significant drop in the number of participants (253 against 712 last year), the event was a great success. The only athlete to go under the 30-minute mark, Gaëtan Cals (29’46) dominated the competition with a head and shoulders, beating Kévin Lassere (32’06), his club partner at CA Balma, by more than two minutes. Cédric Labadens (32’30 – SA Genève) completed the podium. Among the ladies, the young and already very successful Melody Julien (AM Montredon) won gold in 33’44 far ahead of Clara Prevot (36’50 – CA Balma) and Jihane Mamouri (39’08). Several members of Castres Athlétisme have won in their age category. Elodie Sanchez in the Cadettes, Véronique Autrique in Masters 4 and Philippe Terral in the Masters 3. We should also note the fine performances of Jean-Pierre Raoul (71 years old) and Marie-Andrée Male (73 years old) who respectively covered the distance in 54 ’34 and 1h04’48. Over 5 kilometers, the team challenge is won by Team BBP. Individually, Khadija Boudjellouli (CA Balma) wins for the women and Antoine Villechenaud (Team BBP) for the men.
