In a developing story, at least 10 people have been killed in Israeli air raids on the Gaza Strip, reportedly targeting members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement. Explosions were heard in different parts of Gaza, and there are unconfirmed reports of injuries. The movement has announced that three of its leaders, along with their wives and some children, were among those killed. Witnesses reported that an explosion hit an apartment building in Gaza City and a house in the southern city of Rafah. This latest attack comes just a week after Israeli missiles pounded the densely-populated strip, causing damage across multiple areas and resulting in casualties. Palestinian rockets were then launched in response, leading to a ceasefire being brokered by Qatari, Egyptian, and United Nations officials. In light of this escalation, Israel’s military has advised residents within 40km of Gaza to stay close to bomb shelters.
