We offer an opportunity to look at some interesting facts from the making of the film, the creative team restoring almost 100 years old events.

“Emilija Benjamiņa’s life story allows us to look into one of the most important stages in Latvia’s 20th century history. We hope that this unique biographical story will reach viewers at a time when we are thinking about history, press freedom and the role of gender in society,” says the film’s producer. Gints Grūbe.

Several episodes have taken place in places historically associated with the Benjamin family, and the filming uses authentic objects that are still in the possession of the descendants or have survived from Benjamin’s time. The six feature film series are the authors’ artistic interpretation of the main character and historical events, while the last, seventh series includes documentary testimonies of the film’s heroes in the memories of their descendants today and previously unpublished historical material.

Filming of all series lasted 53 days, production of the film – 12 months, and 590 film professionals – both actors and technical staff – were involved.
