10 injured in frontal collision at Notodden – NRK Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

The two cars collided head-on in the 80-zone at Busnesgrenda on Fv37 Tinnsjøvegen in Notodden at 20.45 on Friday night.

It was snowing and slippery on the spot and the police suspect that it may have been a contributing factor to the accident.

There were two families in the cars, with seven people in one car and three in the other.

– There was a family in every car. The car with seven people was a car with three rows of seats, says operations manager Jan Kristian Johnsrud in the Southeast police district to NTB just before midnight on Friday.

Sent to hospital

All 10 people in the cars have been sent to hospital.

Two people have been flown to Ullevål hospital with serious injuries, and three people have been taken to the hospital in Skien, two of whom are seriously injured, the operations manager in the police, Anne Meyer, told NRK.

Five people have been taken to Drammen hospital, but they should not be seriously injured.

Major material damage

The fire brigade sent people from both Tinn and Notodden. An ambulance arrived at the scene first and reported that there were personal injuries and major property damage to the cars. The police also arrived.

– A person was trapped early in the incident, informs duty manager Sør-Øst 110, Glenn Espen Kustner.

At 23 o’clock, Tinnsjøvegen was reopened after being closed since the accident. By then, a number of queues had built up.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown and the police will investigate the case. But weather and driving are mentioned as a possible cause.

It was first reported that the accident happened in Rjukan, but according to Sør-Øst 110, the accident site is in Notodden municipality.

Two cars have collided head-on. Several people are involved in the incident.
