According to the Commanding Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Kien Giang Province, from July 16 to 17, Kien Giang province was affected by typhoon No. Heavy rain occurred in the province, accompanied by thunderstorms and tornadoes, causing a lot of property damage in the province.
Accordingly, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and whirlwinds collapsed 10 houses; roof speed 27 units. The southwest monsoon was active, causing big waves and high winds to sink a tourist boat in Kien Hai district. Thunderstorms and tornadoes knocked down 35 trees and broke 1 power pole.
Estimated total material value is over 1.2 billion VND. Fortunately, there were no human casualties.

To proactively respond to storm No. 1, Kien Giang temporarily suspended all passenger ships in the province from the mainland to the islands and vice versa from 6:00 on July 16. The Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention, Control and Prevention and Civil Development of districts and cities shall arrange temporary accommodation for the affected people and direct the implementation of the motto “4 on the spot” to help people soon stabilize their lives.
The district has advanced the budget to support, visit and encourage people, mobilize the force of the disaster prevention and control team on the spot to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
