A 29-year-old father and her 9 month old daughter were also killed as a result of the accident. The girl was “well secured” in her car seat, but “the impact was too powerful”, can one read on the site of CNN. The driver of the Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch bus may have been pulled out of the burning vehicle, but help could not save the young girls.

The accident occurred during the storm Claudette on the I-65, which has been demoted to the status of tropical depression as it reached the American coast. It nevertheless caused strong winds and heavy rains in Louisiana, Mississippi Florida and Alabama. In addition to the pile-up, Tuscaloosa, Alabama City Council Chairman Kip Tyner confirmed on June 20 on Facebook thata father (24 years old) and his 3 year old son died during Claudette’s visit.
