World Health Organization spokesperson Lindmeier said on March 1, local time, that official records showed that ten Gazan children were officially registered as starved to death in hospitals. Unfortunately, unofficial numbers are estimated to be higher.
The spokesman said Gaza’s public systems were more than broken. He explained that all of Gaza’s “lifelines have been more or less cut off,” especially water and electricity. Since the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7 last year, water and electricity supply to the Gaza Strip were immediately cut off.
The food crisis in Gaza is deepening, with one in four people facing catastrophic food insecurity, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said. The latest assessment shows that the food security situation faced by Gaza’s entire population (2.2 million people) is at “crisis” levels. Among them, about 1.17 million people are at the “emergency” level, and another 500,000 people face “catastrophic” difficulties. (Headquarters reporter Yang Chun)
