1. On the Jelgava side, people have believed that in order to get happiness for a lifetime, a fern flower should not be kept or brought home, but eaten.
2. One of the most magical properties attributed to the fern flower was its ability to become invisible. The found flower had to be put in shoes and then you can go wherever you want – no one can hear or see you.
3. It was also believed that the finder of the fern flower then had the ability to feel and find hidden treasure.
4. If you carried a fern flower with you, it protected you from all kinds of misfortunes.
5. It was believed that the fern flower could be stolen by the devil and with it the luck, so the fern flower had to be kept tight or tight, crossed so that the devil did not know where to look.
6. The fern flower had to be specially prepared – devils, witches and other mosquitoes also wanted to own it, so it had to be protected from it at first. When he found the fern flower, he had to put a circle around it so that the mosquitoes could not access it. Then you have to pluck, hide it well and go to the house.
7. In some counties, it was believed that a silk handkerchief had to be placed under a bush to get a fern flower. Then the fern shed its tears (flowers) on it.
8. There was also a belief that when going to look for a fern flower, the shoes should be pulled upside down – with the heels forward, then the search for a flower will be successful.
9. Both legends and beliefs say that the fern blooms once a year – on Midsummer night and midnight.
10. It is believed in many beliefs that a fern flower can be used for divination. It is said that in these rituals, using a freshly picked fern flower, the future can be seen very clearly.
