Aviation Research Institute and space (Lapan) has shared information about astronomical phenomena that will appear in 2022. Through its official Instagram account, @lapan_ri uploaded a list of interesting astronomical phenomena in 2022 on 30/12/2022. As happened in previous years.
Aviation Research Organization and space predicts that this year will appear phenomena that are no less interesting to mark the date of occurrence. The following is a list of 10 astronomical events that will occur throughout 2022, which are summarized from the official website for Education Space Science Eight:
1. Peak of the Qudrantid Meteor Shower

Peak rain meteor qudarantid occurs on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Qudarantid is a meteor shower whose radiant point is from the constellation Quadrans Muralis. This meteor shower has a maximum intensity of 200 meteors/hour. Quadrantid can be seen from the Northeast at 04.00 local time until 25 minutes before sunrise.
2. The Peak of the Mars-Saturn Conjunction
Conjunction Mars-Saturn occurred on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. This sighting can be seen from the East at 03.00 local time until 25 minutes before sunrise. Make sure not to miss the Mars-Saturn conjunction phenomenon because it will only happen again on April 11, 2024 and April 20, 2024.
3. Saturn-Mars-Venus-Jupiter-Moon Quintet Conjunction
Quintet Conjunction Saturn-Mars-Venus-Jupiter-Moon occurs for 6 days, namely on Sunday, April 24 to Friday, April 29, 2022. This phenomenon can be witnessed at 04.00 local time from East to Southeast. The exception is April 29, which can only be seen 75 minutes before sunrise.
4. The Peak of the Venus-Jupiter Conjunction
The peak of the Venus-Jupiter conjunction will occur on Sunday, May 1, 2022. This phenomenon can be seen in the east direction at 03.30 local time until 25 minutes before sunrise.
5. Occultation of Venus by the Moon
The occultation occurred on Friday, May 27, 2022. This apparition can only be witnessed using a tool. Occultation is the phenomenon of obstruction of celestial bodies that appear smaller by other celestial bodies. This event can be witnessed at 00.36 UT to 05.30 UT.
6. Super Full Moon
The super full moon is one of the long-awaited phenomena, occurring together when the moon is at its closest point to the earth. This incident occurred on June 14-15 at 18.51.35 WITA or 19.51.35 WITA or 20.51.35 WIT and Wednesday, July 13-14 2022 at 01.37.23 WITA or 02.37.23 WITA or 03.37.23 WIT.
7. Occultation of Uranus by the Moon
The occultration of Uranus by the Moon occurred on Saturday, June 25, 2022. Globally, Uranus was occultated by the Moon on June 24 at 19:57 UT.
8. Peak Perseid Meteor Shower
The peak of the Perseid meteor shower occurs on Saturday, August 13-14, 2022. This meteor shower has a maximum intensity of 100 meteors/hour.
9. Total Lunar Eclipse
A total lunar eclipse will occur on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. This phenomenon occurs with a total duration of 1 hour 24 minutes 58 seconds.
10. The Peak of the Germinid Meteor Shower
The peak of the Germinid meteor shower occurs on Wednesday, December 14-15, 2022. This rain has a maximum intensity of 120 meteors/hour. Meteor showers can be seen from the Northeast to the Northwest at 20.30 local time to 25 minutes before sunrise.
