1 year in search of Janek: Relatives and friends light candles as a sign that he is not forgotten

He was last seen in Vasil Kaplanov’s jeep

Exactly one year after the disappearance of Dupnitsa resident Yanek Milanov, there is still no trace of him. The investigation continues, and relatives and friends do not lose hope that the fate of Milanov will be understood. Tonight, they light candles as a sign that he is not forgotten, he said Nova tv.

On July 31 last year, the man was last seen – first in front of his block, and then was seen in the jeep of Vasil Kaplanov. The mysterious disappearance was the reason for a large-scale police operation. To this day, however, there is no trace of Janek.

Exactly a year ago, Yanek Milanov was in front of his block in Dupnitsa with friends. Around 23:00 the former guard of the Galevi brothers Vasil Kaplanov arrives in his jeep. Janek gets up. It is known that he and Milanov have a conflict with each other. The jeep set off, and subsequently the city’s CCTV cameras lost track of it in the direction of the village of Kraynitsi.

“And since then no one has heard of him or seen him. Everyone knows what fame Kaplanov has, what he does, what his past is …”, says Janek’s brother – Mario Milanov.

Weeks after Milanov’s disappearance, a large-scale police operation took place. The result – Vasil Kaplanov was detained, but not in connection with the disappearance of Janek, but for illegal possession of ammunition. And Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev arrives in Dupnitsa. “I am committed to the brother of the missing person, I will personally monitor this case,” Geshev said.

A new accusation has been filed against Kaplanov as well – for threatening to kill to a man who was a member of the Facebook group “Where is Janek”.

“The prosecutor’s office is doing everything possible to keep him in custody. I don’t know, because they say so – his previous request for detention says that a kidnapping case is underway in Kyustendil, and the most probable suspect, such a thing does not exist in law, was he, so keep him, “said Emil Velinov, Vasil Kaplanov’s lawyer.

Kaplanov remains in custody, and several rallies are taking place in Dupnitsa. Dams and mountains are being searched, and Kaplanov’s wife, who according to acquaintances is at the center of the conflict between the two, is being interrogated. Relatives of Janek claim that in the days after his disappearance the investigation was fatally delayed due to police fault.

“I can assure them that there is no delay in the investigation, time will show that I am right,” said Borislav Dinev, director of the Dupnitsa police department.
