1 year anniversary of Gaza War, Israel says Hezbollah fired 135 rockets

Military Israel or the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the group Hizbullah in Lebanon fired 135 projectiles into its territory. The attack was carried out on the first anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel today.

“As of 17.00 (local time), around 135 projectiles fired by the Hezbollah group had crossed Lebanon into Israeli territory,” the military said in a statement, as air raid sirens sounding frequently throughout northern Israel, as reported by AFP, Monday (7. /10/2024).

At the same time, the BBC also reported that Hezbollah fired 135 rockets over the border between Lebanon and Israel since the morning.

Since October 8 2023, there have been almost daily cross-border firefights between Israel and Hezbollah, the day after the Hamas attack on Israel that triggered the war in Gaza.

Hezbollah said it started the campaign as a form of solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Hezbollah confirmed that it will not stop until there is a ceasefire in Gaza.

The IDF also announced in the last hour that they would carry out a ‘targeted attack’ in Dahieh, a suburb south of Beirut.

A Lebanese security official told AFP news agency that Israel struck near Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport.
