1 million visitors to …

Jungfraubahn Holding has maintained, for the fourth consecutive year, the number of visitors above the bar of 1 million people at Jungfraujoch, in particular thanks to the Asian clientele.

In 2019, 1.056 million people visited the flagship destination of the Bernese Alps, a figure down 1.0% year-on-year, the operator of ski lifts and mountain restaurants said in a statement on Friday.

The downturn was justified by the numerous storms, notably in November and December, which had led to operational interruptions.

The other destinations were more dynamic, like Grindelwald-First where the number of visitors soared by 20.4% to 707,100 people.

The Mürrenbahn jumped 12.3% to 456,300 people and the Harderbahn jumped 11.7% to 606,200 visitors.
