1 million for flood victims – German pensioner shames Bayern Munich

One million euros – that’s how much the 82-year-old Horst Eschler from Münster donated to the Aktion Lichtblicke organization, which is currently helping the victims of the flood in Germany. Radio Antenna Munster reports that the pensioner gathered with his friends to discuss the value of the donation. The figure of 1,000,000 euros seemed good to them.

He took it to heart, says Eschler: “These people who lost everything … And I said to myself: tomorrow I will have money to buy bread.”

The pensioner trusted the above-mentioned support organization, which unites all local radio stations in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, because he believes that in this way his money will most certainly reach the most affected families.

“Don’t squeeze!”

But that’s not all. Along with his donation, Eschler called on his favorite football club, Bayern Munich, to also give (more) money to the victims. So far, the team, along with colleagues from Cologne and the Deutsche Telekom giant, has donated 100,000 euros to the victims through the Aktion Lichtblicke organization. However, the 82-year-old from Münster believes that this is not enough. “Don’t hold back. I know you’re not like that and you’re giving a lot of money to charity. But in the current situation, you have to dig deeper,” he insisted.

If Bayern donates one million, Eschler promises to increase his donation by as much as 20%.

Generosity that impresses

By the way, the pensioner from Münster is known for his generosity. In April this year, he donated 750,000 euros to the Munster Zoo and bought tickets for the zoo for 33,333 children. And why does he do it? Because of a promise he made to his late wife to take care of children and animals.

Meanwhile, the Bayern giants accepted the thrown glove and increased the donation for the victims of the flood to 1.1 million euros. They are also preparing a charity match with Schalke 04 at Feltins Arena. At least another million euros of the expected proceeds will also be donated to the flood victims.
