1. FC Magdeburg – KSC: Referee Patrick Alt recently refereed FCM in cup embarrassment

Magdeburg/DUR – The referee for the second division top match between 1. FC Magdeburg and Karlsruher SC on Sunday (1:30 p.m. live on Sky) is Patrick Alt and comes from Saarland. FCM has very bad memories of the referee.

It has only been a month since Alt last refereed a Magdeburg game: In the first round of the DFB Cup, FCM suffered a 1:2 defeat at fourth division club Kickers Offenbach. To date, it is the blue-whites’ last defeat in a competitive match.

But Patrick Alt was not to blame for FCM’s cup exit; he did a better job in Offenbach than the players. The 39-year-old referee is also very experienced, and will be refereeing his 88th second division match on Sunday, as well as 124 third division matches and eight DFB Cup duels.

Referee Patrick Alt with mixed FCM record

So far, FCM has met Alt eleven times, with three wins, four defeats and four draws. The referee did not send off a single Magdeburg player.

Patrick Alt will be assisted on the sidelines on Sunday in the Avnet Arena by Martin Speckner and Dominik Jolk. Lasse Koslowski will be the fourth official on the coaching benches. Günter Perl and his assistant Franz Bokop will be responsible for video evidence (VAR) in the Cologne basement.
