Compulsory game premiere against Cologne’s horror opponents. There are really easier debuts than that of defensive giant Julian “Jeff” Chabot (24/1.95 m) against Hoffenheim (Sun., 5.30 p.m. / DAZN).
The clearer came in winter as a Czichos replacement from Genoa. He then waited in vain for his first FC appearance until Timo Hübers (25) was eliminated from Corona. Now coach Steffen Baumgart (50) promises: “Jeff is the first choice and will play.”
The league premiere of all things against the goal machine Hoffenheim…
► FC have not won against TSG for eleven games. In the first leg, Cologne went down 0:5. And the FC lost the last seven duels with a total of 25 goals – making 3.6 per game.
Chabot will not only know these numbers. He also spent extra shifts in front of the TV screen with assistant coach Kevin McKenna (42) and was specially trained for his league premiere against Hoffenheim.
Baumgart: “He’s well prepared. Jeff watched extra videos with Kevin and did everything for his premiere. We are very happy with him.”
How can Chabot stop Cologne’s nemesis?
Baumgart: “He should help the boys by being brave. And he shouldn’t let himself be impressed by one or the other situation that might get tight, but keep calm and keep playing. After all, we know that with the way we play, it’s not always easy for the guys at the back.”
Not only because FC are extremely high and will try their luck on the offensive again against Hoffenheim. With Kramaric, Bebou and Rutter something is coming to Chabot.
Baumgart: “We know what they can do offensively. But I am sure that Jeff will do very well.”
