Keeper’s Joust in Cologne! With the mega-talent Jonas Urbig (19/13 regional league appearances), the FC lends the current number 3 to the second division club Jahn Regensburg and thus probably also stands for the premature departure of Timo Horn (29) in poker .
According to BILD information, Horn’s much-discussed winter switch is out of the question five months before the contract expires. In the summer, however, FC definitely needs a replacement. Because Horn, whose talks are underway with the club, will hardly be able to extend at his age and ability just to continue sitting on the bench as number 2.
But after 21 years at FC Horn there is nothing left. Marvin Schwäbe (27/contract until 2024) is number 1. And Urbig, whom Baumgart considers “one of the greatest German goalkeeping talents”, will become Schwäbe’s long-term successor, returning by 2024 at the latest!
Will Urbig be back in the summer?
Apparently, depending on the development in Regensburg, Cologne may even bring back its top talent in the summer. Baumgart: “We want it in top condition in six months to one and a half years, as a possible growing number 1.”
► So the Cologne caretaker’s plan is in place. Baumgart enters the second half of the season with Schwäbe and Horn. While Urbig completed the endurance test as a pro in Regensburg.

So: Parallel to the second half of the season, those in charge are watching closely if and how Urbig will prevail in Regensburg. To know in the summer what you can trust the young goalkeeper when Horn goes to the Bundesliga, abroad or in the 2nd division.
Depending on the result, FC will then have to get a new number 2, a new number 3 or even two goalkeepers for the new season…
