Great football, more wins, big dreams – under Steffen Baumgart (50), FC is unrecognizable. Hopefully this also applies to carnival! Because Cologne traditionally plays unsuccessfully at the weekend. Does Saturday afternoon (February 26, 2022, 3:30 p.m.) look different in Fürth?
At Fastelovend, FC fans almost always celebrate frustration instead of celebrating victories: Cologne was only able to win two (!) of the last 18 Bundesliga games on the carnival weekend, and the billy goats even lost twelve of these games.
So that the Fastelovend curse doesn’t strike again in Fürth, Baumgart demands full throttle: “We have to call up a lot to look good there and win.”
The cloverleaf is clearly at the bottom of the league with only 13 points, but has scored a strong eleven points from the last five home games and in the 1:4 swatter at Bayern Munich won at least the first half on Sunday.
Steffen Baumgart: Greuther Fürth has character
Baumgart: “The team has developed well and is far from being out of the game. Fürth has character, they give it their all until the end.” Nevertheless, Cologne have their sights set on the next three! With a win, FC could jump back into the top six on the carnival weekend and thus fuel dreams of the European Cup.
