Of the total amount, the club can use up to 144,300 euros for security or violence prevention measures, which would have to be proven to the German Football Association by June 30th.
The DFB control committee had applied to the sports court for a fine of 595,000 euros for the events at the Gladbach game and a fine of 23,000 euros for the events at the Frankfurt game.
Cologne investigates the perpetrators – and reduces the sentence
The fact that Cologne has now identified two perpetrators in both cases meant that the sports court stayed below the requested sentence both times and honored the club’s efforts.

“The club assured the sports court that it had identified perpetrators and initiated stadium ban proceedings against them. We also assume that 1. FC Köln will assert the fines imposed as recourse against the perpetrators. These are the sole reasons why the sports court found a significant reduction in the fines requested by the control committee justified,” said Stephan Oberholz, chairman of the DFB sports court.
For the Bundesliga restart, FC will face Heidenheim in front of their home crowd on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
