1. FC Cologne | In the video: FC victory against Schalke 2014/15

The FC got into the game well from the start and played with pressure on the Schalke case in the first half – especially Anthony Ujah, Yuya Osako and Kazuki Nagasawa regularly occupied the Schalke defensive line. At FC, a lot went together, but the last pass and the goal closure were initially still too imprecise. Up to the 34th minute of the game: Jonas Hector fought for the ball in his own half, passed it on to Kevin Vogt and then it happened very quickly. Vogt saw the starting Kazuki Nagasawa, who initially failed to Ralf Fährmann from a tight angle – but Marcel Risse scored the 1-0 for FC in the margin. And that was well deserved. FC goalkeeper Timo Horn had little to do up until then, which was mainly due to the fact that the FC defensive Schalke did not even get into the sixteen-meter space.

The FC had the game under control in the second round and did not let the 46,500 spectators doubt a home win despite the narrow lead. On the contrary, in the 89th minute, the substitute Yannick Gerhardt went one better: Marcel Risse brought the ball over to the right to Miso Brecko, who initially missed the leather and Yannick Gerhardt then increased to the 2-0 final score.
