1. FC Köln’s U21s have extended their contracts with Philipp Höffler and Vincent Friedsam for another year. Höffler has been playing for FC since 2011, Friedsam even since 2009.
The FC has two of its own: Philipp Höffler and Vincent Friedsam have extended their contracts until June 30, 2022. Vincent Friedsam is a 19-year-old goalkeeper and has been with FC since the U8. He became German champion in 2019 with the U17 and a year later West German champion with the U19. Friedsam was born in Cologne and grew up in Hürth. Last season he played for the U21s in the Regionalliga West.
Philipp Höffler is 20 years old, full-back and moved from Wuppertal to the FC youth team in 2011. Last season he made 16 appearances in the Regionalliga West. The 20-year-old was injured on matchday 31 against FC Schalke 04 and is currently in rehab training.
Matthias Heidrich, Head of the youth performance center, says: “Vincent did well in his first challenging year in senior football. At the end of the season he showed with good games that you can rely on him and that he is an excellent support. We are also absolutely convinced of Philipp’s strengths on the outside and we hope that he can bring them to bear in the Regionalliga West in the new season. “
Philipp Höffler: “I’m really looking forward to renewing my career with FC again. I’ve been with FC for ten years and I really appreciate the club and its importance, so I’m happy to be part of the U21 team again next year. For me it is now important to be as fit as possible at the start of training and then I look forward to a successful season. “
Vincent Friedsam: “I grew up here, have been playing for FC since the U8 and I am very happy to stay here. I am very happy to be part of the U21 in the coming season. I will do everything I can to ensure that we play a strong round and I want to develop personally. My total focus is on these next steps. “
