Exactly the right time for the next home trio! 1. FC Köln welcomes Frankfurt on Saturday evening (February 19, 2022) for the top league game – and wants to use Eintracht’s escape light curse. Not the only good omen for the billy goats.
Saturday, 6.30 p.m. and Frankfurt – that doesn’t go together! The Hessians failed to win 15 times in a row at this kick-off time. FC wants to take care of number 16 and distance Eintracht by four points. “I hope that it will not only be an exciting game, but also a good one and that we will keep the points here,” said coach Steffen Baumgart (50).
Ellyes Skhiri: “We have to approach the game like a final”
Especially in the Müngersdorf Fortress. The Münster Higher Administrative Court decided on Friday that FC, like against Freiburg, can only play in front of 10,000 fans – but they also help the team. Cologne only lost once with Baumgart when the Rhein-Energie-Stadion was filled with a five-digit number of spectators (0:2 against Augsburg).
The trend also sees FC ahead: Frankfurt only scored four points in 2022 and is only 15th in the second half of the table. Baumgart nevertheless warns: “At the beginning of the season they proved very well that they can deal with difficult situations. Now there is a dip in the results, if at all.” But while FC have picked up eleven points more after 22 matchdays than last year, Eintracht are eleven points behind their tally.
