“Cardiovascular disease, the number one cause of death in the world

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Han Sunggan = Cardiovascular disease was found to be the number one cause of death in the world last year.
According to a research team of Professor Gregory Ross, a cardiologist at the University of Washington Medical School in the U.S., analyzed data for the past 30 years from 1990 to 2019, last year, deaths from cardiovascular disease accounted for one-third of all disease deaths in the world. It ranked number one, HealthDay News reported on the 9th.
The countries with the most cardiovascular deaths last year were China, India, Russia, the United States, and Indonesia.
The countries with the lowest cardiovascular deaths were France, Peru, and Japan, whose cardiovascular death rates fell six times compared to 1990.
The overall number of cardiovascular disease patients nearly doubled from 275 million in 1990 to 523 million in 2019.
The number of cardiovascular deaths increased from 12.1 million in 1990 to 18.6 million in 2019.
There were 9.6 million women and 8.9 million men. The death toll in the age group between the ages of 30 and 70 exceeded 6 million.
In the case of last year, most deaths from cardiovascular disease were due to ischemic heart disease and stroke, which is caused by narrowing of blood vessels.
The number of deaths from ischemic heart disease and stroke has steadily increased since 1990.
The findings were published in the October issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
