1 case reported every two weeks to SOS Homophobie Lyon

On the occasion of the World Day for the Fight against LGBTIphobias, May 17, 2021, the SOS Homophobie association published its annual report on the observation of LGBTIphobic discrimination while its Lyon branch gathered at Place de la Comédie, in the first arrondissement of Lyon.

“Florian is a 21-year-old gay man from the Lyon region. Since he was 18, he has suffered physical, verbal and psychological violence from his father. This forces him, for example, to watch a heterosexual pornographic film to find out if he was able to cum in front of naked women. This chilling story is the testimony of one of the 26 victims of LGTBIphobic acts who appealed to SOS Homophobie in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in 2020.

A figure included in the 1,815 cases reported nationwide and revealed in the report on discrimination suffered by gay, lesbian and transgender people, published by the association on May 17, 2021, which also reports the upsurge in homophobic violence and transphobic in the context of neighborhood and family relations since the start of the health crisis.

A rally to denounce LGBTIphobic acts was held that same day, Place de la Comédie, in the 1st arrondissement of Lyon.
