1: 3 – Now the Rieder shooters need help

The SV Guntamatic Ried no longer has the promotion in their own hands: The Innviertel had had eight points ahead at the restart after the Corona break – six games and four defeats later there is a risk of falling from the top of the table in the 2nd football league. After the 1: 3 in the derby against Blau-Weiß Linz, Klagenfurt can pass on Sunday with a win at Vorwärts Steyr (10.30 a.m.). “I have no words,” said substitute captain Ziegl. “It’s a matter of the head now.”

Ried coach Baumgartner made five changes in the starting eleven compared to 2: 3 at FC Juniors OÖ, the uncertainty remained. A long pass over the defense was enough for the outsider to take the lead: Pomer left Obermüller, Dmitrovic, who replaced Kreidl in goal, could not prevent the 0-1 (22nd). Malicsek (29th) and Tursch (38th) had completely free chances to extend the lead.

Gschweidl (33., 34.) gave two options to compensate, he used the third (39.). And before the break, the 24-year-old could have turned the game around on two occasions (45th, 45th + 1). The Rieder took the momentum into the second half – and still it was 1: 2 in the 56th minute. Gasperlmair flanked, Kostic put down and Schubert slammed the ball under the crossbar. Again, all three blue-and-white players had been completely unrestricted.

It was a hit. The 1: 3 (85th) was a reflection of the descent: Dmitrovic rammed Obermüller in front of a long ball and thus cleared the way for goal scorer Filip.

“We have to stand together”

“We mustn’t put our heads in the sand. We have to stand together,” said Baumgartner. For the first time in 16 years, the Rieder suffered three defeats in a row in the second-highest division and now have to hope for help from Steyr on Sunday. The following Friday, Vorwärts is then a guest in Ried. The title candidates in succession – a local rival, of all people, could be decisive for Ried in the promotion race. Forward coach Wahlmüller: “Both contenders are nervous. Any loss of points can be decisive. For us it is a nice job, we can play easily.”

Steyr has been unbeaten for five games, FC Juniors OÖ has not lost seven games. The team of coach Scheiblehner can also help the reeds: After today’s home game in Wels against Amstetten (3 p.m.), they will be guest in Klagenfurt next Saturday. (mag / rawa)
