We invite you to the online performance sharing session of 《2045 Habitable Cities》!
hello. It’s public. It’s public.
This year, we conducted our first local project, “2045 (In)Livable City,” in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do. It began to examine where the ‘electricity’ we use is produced and where it moves within the relationship between Dangjin and Seoul. We sought to look back on the human-centered urban system in an era of technological optimism through the movement of resources and dynamics between regions.
So 📢seminar, 📢Workshop-based installation and performance, 📢Local tours, etc. were held. also 📢Artworks were created based on local research. (Of course, the local project starting this year will continue next year!)
On the afternoon of the first Saturday in December, we will hold a sharing event to introduce the results of our consideration and progress while traveling between Dangjin and Seoul. We hope you will have time to rediscover the potential of the region through a cultural and artistic approach with us.
We ask for your interest and participation.

PUBLIC PUBLIC is a research organization and content curation platform that studies the possibility of expanding art with social value and experiments with discourse production, including post-mortem research and criticism.
PP PICK regularly contains news and commentary on artistic activities and practices taking place in the city’s cracks. We also seek to mediate an art ecosystem that responds to intervention and participation through various programs that focus on mutual communication between artworks and the public (audience).
**Considering the project’s focus on both Dangjin and Seoul, what specific lessons can be learned from the interplay between these two locations regarding sustainable urban development and resource distribution?**
## The City, the Grid, and the Future: An Interview with ”2045 (Un)Livable City” Project Leaders
**Introduction:**
Welcome to World Today News. Today, we’re diving into the fascinating world of art and social commentary with the “2045 (Un)Livable City” project. Joining us are Kyungmi Lee, the general planner of the project, and Gyu-seop Park, collaborating researcher with Energy School, to discuss this innovative exploration of urban systems and electricity flow.
**Section 1: Exploring the Intersection of Art and Urban Planning**
* **Kyungmi Lee, you describe the project as examining “the human-centered urban system” through the lens of resource movement. What inspired this approach, and what do you hope to achieve by highlighting the interconnectedness between electricity production and urban life?**
* **The project centers around the relationship between Dangjin and Seoul. Can you elaborate on the specific dynamics between these two locations and why they were chosen for this investigation?**
* **How does art, particularly the collaborative “City Walking Theory 2 -Mystery of the City” and the “Station Monument Project – Monument for Birds,” contribute to understanding complex urban issues? Can you share some insights into the creative process behind these works?**
**Section 2: Electricity, Sustainability, and the Future of Cities**
* **Gyu-seop Park, your work focuses on the historical aspects of power generation. How does understanding the past inform our vision for sustainable cities in the future?**
* **The project title, “2045 (Un)Livable City,” evokes a sense of both hope and concern. What are the key challenges facing cities today, and how do you see artistic interventions contributing to finding solutions?**
* **The ”Electrip” project personalizes these issues through a sense of travel. Can you explain this approach and its potential to create empathy and understanding among participants?**
**Section 3: Community Engagement and the Power of Collaboration**
* **Both of you emphasize the importance of community involvement and local perspectives in the project. How has collaboration with Dangjin residents shaped the project’s direction and outcomes?**
* **What role do you see art playing in fostering dialog and collective action around critical issues like urban development and sustainability?**
* **What are your hopes for the future of the “2045 (Un)Livable City” project beyond this initial phase? How do you envision its impact extending to other communities and contexts?**
