Despite another increase in performance, the ice hockey team of the second division Eisbären Regensburg lost their away game against the Wolves of EHC Freiburg with 0:3 (0:2/0:0/0:1). The Upper Palatinate team had a good game and created several chances – but only Baden got the goals. In the 16th minute, the hosts used their first power play to make it 1-0 through Eero Elo. Shortly before the first break, the Breisgauers struck again in the majority: Captain Shawn O’Donnell scored with a backhand to make it 2-0 (20th minute). The white bears, who were at least equal to the Black Forest team, failed with good chances. The Domstadt team had more of the game in the second half, but they could not get the puck past home goalkeeper Patrik Červený. Important: In the last section alone, in which the Regensburg team set the tone, the post and the crossbar were saved three times for the Baden-Württemberg team, but the hosts were not awarded a goal. Instead, O’Donnell made the final score 3-0 shortly before the end (60′) with a shot into the now empty EBR goal. In the DEL 2 table, the Regensburg team remained in eleventh place (21 points), while Freiburg moved one place and is now in seventh place (34). There is hardly any time for the people of Donaustadt to breathe: the important home game against Eispiren Crimmitschau continues on Sunday, November 24th. The meeting in the Donau-Arena, which starts at 5 pm, is the fifth game of the EBR in just ten days. Tickets are available at www.ebr.live

Follow-up report
The Eisbären Regensburg traveled again to the difficult away game against the Wolves of EHC Freiburg without some of the missing players. The head coach of the Ville Hämäläinen team was still missing Marvin Schmid, Matěj Giesl and David Morley as well as Niklas Zeilbeck (played for Passau in the league) in attack and André Bühler, who was still injured, in defense. Finn Eetu Laurikainen started in goal in front of 2,846 fans in the Breisgau Real Heroes Arena, Jonas Neffin was his backup.
From the start, the Eisbären showed enthusiasm and put pressure on the EHC back line. After a few promising finishes without any results, the EBR almost managed to take the lead in the early stages: After a strong preparation work by Yuma Grimm, a crack from the backcourt reportedly landed behind of the line – but after minutes of video evidence, the referees ultimately ruled “No goal”. Regensburg continued to play well and had more of the game – until a polar bear had to defend the penalty box. It only took seven seconds in the power play before the home side took the lead relatively flat through Eero Elo (16th minute). Now the Wolves were also better in the game and caused danger on several occasions. Again in penalty time against Upper Palatinate, it was Freiburg captain Shawn O’Donnell who scored with a backhand to make it 2-0 shortly before the break (20th) – an unfortunate interim result for him Donaustadt team after a confident performance.
Lots of chances – but no goals
And so it was clear in the second half that the Regensburg team wanted to reward their good performance with goals. But against Freiburg, who were getting stronger, a fast-paced game developed with open shots. Chances on both sides always ended up near the goals or by the two goalkeepers Patrik Červený (Freiburg) and Laurikainen. Bayern’s best chance to grab a longer numerical advantage streak came with several penalties against Freiburg in a row. But the puck didn’t want to go into the goal.
This remained true in the final section, which the polar bears were largely in control of. But besides several Červený saves and a few shots that missed the target, the aluminum saved the Wolves three times in the third third only when the Polar Bears scored. Laurikainen, who was in good spirits, was there for Freiburg’s relief attacks. In the final phase, EBR head coach Ville Hämäläinen took his time out and later took his goalie off the ice for an extra field player. The Domstadt team showed their fighting spirit again with dangerous shots – but after losing the puck, Freiburg played the counterattack in a very good way: O’Donnell didn’t have to push into the empty goal, b The final score is 3-0 for Baden-Württemberg (60th).
With 21 points, EBR is currently eleventh in the DEL-2 table. Meanwhile, Freiburg climbed one place and is now in seventh place with 34 points. The Eisbären continue on Sunday, November 24th with the important home game against the Eispiren Crimmitschau. The game will start in the Donau-Arena at 5 pm. Tickets are available at www.ebr.live
