0:2 mortgage from the first leg – Servette against Chelsea: Now we finally need to score goals again – Sport

In the second leg of the playoffs in the Conference League, Servette must make up a 0-2 deficit. But their goal production has left a lot to be desired recently.

A week ago, Servette was badly served at Stamford Bridge in a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea. In the final minutes, the Genevans had great chances every minute against a weakening and nonchalant Londoners. But Thomas Häberli’s team wasted every opportunity to score an away goal – partly carelessly.

The problem with scoring goals is a recurring theme in the Grenats’ international appearances. In the last 12 months, Servette has played 13 European Cup matches (6 in the EL group stage in autumn, 4 in the ConfL knockout phase in spring, 2 in the EL qualifiers 2024/25 and the Chelsea first leg). The offensive output is devastating:

  • The 13 games resulted in only 6 goals (average: 0.46 per game).
  • In 8 matches they remained goalless.
  • The last 8 games resulted in only 2 goals (average: 0.25 per game).

The Servettiens should be positive about the fact that they create chances against every opponent and get the strikers into position. But the executor is missing. The gap in the center of the attack left by Chris Bedia’s departure to Union Berlin in January has not yet been filled.

Will Crivelli burst the deadlock in front of a sold-out crowd?

With the existing personnel, Servette needs at least 2 goals to pull off the big coup in the return match on Thursday evening against Chelsea, who won 6-2 at Wolverhampton in the Premier League on Sunday.

We will show you the match between Servette and Chelsea live on the SRF Sport app on Thursday evening from 8:25 p.m. After the Trabzonspor – St. Gallen match (kick-off at 7 p.m.), the game will also be shown on SRF info.

As always, Servette’s Enzo Crivelli will start in the centre of the attack in the last five competitive matches. The 29-year-old Frenchman has not scored a single goal in those five matches. Crivelli scored his only goal of the season so far on July 24 against YB.

However, he and his Geneva colleagues will not lack support: the Stade de Genève – in the Super League there are an average of 7,500 spectators – will be sold out with around 30,000 fans.
