KAA Gent has said goodbye to Musa Sanyang. The 52-year-old club worker died unexpectedly.
Musa Sanyang started working for the club in 2014. He was then an employee in the maintenance department of the youth centre. However, he quickly became a familiar face at the Buffalo Bistro. “He was always in a good mood, greeted everyone warmly and was always available for a nice chat,” the club said.
“His generous smile and enthusiasm will certainly be missed, especially by his family and friends.” Musa had two children and lived in Gentbrugge.
He had played football himself, in the second division in Gambia. “We will miss you, Musa, but no one is lost. You will find your place on the memorial wall in the stadium where you felt at home and where you were loved. RIP, great man.”
“Musa had been with the club much longer than myself, but I got to know him as a very nice person,” spokesman Tom Vandenbulcke told Het Laatste Nieuws. “He was a regular meeting place in the Bistro, he never missed a moment without greeting everyone at the end of lunch.
“If you were having a bad day, Musa could still make you smile. It is people like him who give color and warmth to our club, people who should be respected. The fact that he suddenly disappeared was a surprise to everyone. He was a sweet bear, and it hurts not to be around anymore.”
Our club mourns the loss of a beloved employee. Rest in peace, Musa. 💫
