The news that Apple will increase the battery replacement cost of major product groups such as the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook series from next month has boosted Winia’s share price.
As of 2:06 pm on the 14th, Winia is trading at 2665 won, up 50 won (1.91%) from the previous trading day.
Apple has decided to raise the repair cost of Apple (NASDAQ:) products worldwide, including Korea, from the 1st of next month. As a result, the battery service (replacement) fee outside the warranty for the iPhone 13 and all previously released iPhone models will increase by 36,000 won. Currently, the repair fee for the iPhone 13 to X series is 79,200 won, and the iPhone 8 to SE series is 59,400 won, which rises to 109,800 won and 90,000 won, respectively.
Recently, as the replacement cycle of smartphones is getting longer, the burden of battery replacement cost for iPhone users is increasing. If Apple’s 10% discount policy on paid repair costs (25 billion won) is exhausted, there is a possibility that the timing of the increase will be accelerated.
Meanwhile, Winia has Winia Aid, which operates an Apple Authorized Service Center, as a subsidiary. It is interpreted that Apple’s buying trend is driven by expectations of an increase in sales at authorized service centers following the news of a rise in the standard price for battery replacement.
