[정치]Replacing the chief representative of North Korea’s nuclear weapons in the US, will the denuclearization negotiations survive?

The head of the Korean Peninsula Peace Bargaining Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the chief representative of the North Korean nuclear negotiations, was replaced ahead of the inauguration of the US Biden government.

The US Special Representative to North Korea is also expected to be appointed by the next administration, so we are interested in whether the change of personnel will revive the vitality of the denuclearization negotiations.

Blue House Peace Planning Secretary Noh Gyu-deok has been appointed as the head of the peace negotiations headquarters on the Korean Peninsula of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of North Korean nuclear diplomacy.

New Head of Headquarters Roh said that he feels a great sense of responsibility as he takes on a critical role in a fluid situation.

After the government’s inauguration, Shinim Roh, who has served as Secretary for Security Strategy at the Blue House and Secretary for Peace Planning, has been evaluated as having a deep understanding of the peace process on the Korean Peninsula.

Former General Manager Do-Hoon Lee set the record for the longest tenure of three years and three months, and then resigned.

The U.S. Special Representative, Vegan, who has been with the North Korean nuclear talks for two years as a partner of Director Lee, is also expected to change after the establishment of the Biden administration early next year.

When President Vegan visited Korea earlier this month, the two expressed their trust and regret for missing an opportunity to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue.

New Head of Headquarters Roh is facing the task of explaining the results of the existing US-North Korea negotiations to the Biden government and leading to an early resumption of US-North Korea dialogues.

It is also important to keep pace with the new North Korean representative to be nominated by the next US administration by Biden.

With the collapse of the Hanoi talks and the corona 19, the denuclearization negotiations are in a long-term stalemate, and it is noteworthy whether new personnel can inspire vitality.
