Aunae Market in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, where 104 years ago, on March 1 of the lunar calendar, martyr Yu Gwan-soon and independence activists shouted ‘Long live Korea’s independence’.

In the aftermath of Corona 19, the citizens who attended the ‘Aunae Bonghwa Festival’, which was held again after 4 years, reproduced the determined voices of that day.

“Long live Korea’s independence! Long live!”

104 years ago on March 1 of the lunar calendar, citizens filled the area of ​​Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, where the independence movement took place.

Citizens who read the Gimi Declaration of Independence and sang the song of the March 1st Movement together took to the streets shouting “hurray.”

Citizens marched 1.2 km to the Aunae Market, honoring the will of the martyrs who walked resolutely without giving in to Japanese imperialism.

In the middle of the march, girls of a similar age to Yu Gwan-sun gave a short performance to add meaning to the event.

Parents who attended the event with their sons, and children who came to Cheonan with their mothers from Seoul feel the hearts of the independence activists, albeit vaguely.

Descendants of martyr Yu Gwan-soon who took the stage once again emphasized how important and valuable the spirit of nonviolent resistance in the March 1st Movement was.
