We will connect reporters to the field to find out the evolutionary situation. Reporter Heo Seong-jun!
Didn’t the fire spread more overnight?
[기자]
Yes, as the wind subsided overnight, fortunately, it did not spread significantly.
A professional firefighting team at night is building a fire line and preventing wildfires from spreading to the village.
But the nasty smell and thick smoke cover the town.
Last night, 450 residents evacuated from the fire to nearby villages, and most of them returned home, and about 50 people are now evacuated.
Some roads, such as National Route 34, are also controlled.
Forest officials see this morning as a golden time as the wind is expected to rise again from noon.
As the sun rises, we plan to catch the fire by simultaneously putting in 25 helicopters including 11 Forest Service helicopters and 6 military helicopters.
This wildfire started at about 3:20 pm yesterday at a hillside in Imdong-myeon, Andong-si, Gyeongbuk.
When the spread was not serious, the forest authorities issued a second phase of response.
All fire fighting personnel and equipment were mobilized in Daegu and Gyeongnam, Busan and Ulsan, and Daejeon.
However, the topography of the place where the fire was burned was rough and the wind blew hard.
It is estimated that about 120㏊ of forest has been lost so far.
Forest fires once threatened private houses and even the Gyeongbuk fire school, but fortunately they did not lead to significant damage.
Fire extinguishing work is also in full swing in Gamcheon-myeon, Yecheon-gun, Gyeongbuk.
It started around 4:10 pm yesterday, but the flames were not caught, so the first stage of the response was issued, and about 200 residents are evacuated.
