The United Nations said the number of civilian deaths in Ukraine has exceeded 10,000 since Russia invaded the country in February last year.

More than half of the civilian casualties came from the front lines and far behind, and were mainly caused by explosive weapons, such as long-range missiles and cluster bombs.

Meanwhile, the German Minister of Defense visited Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, and promised additional weapons support worth 1.8 trillion won.

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron made his first visit to Kiev, and following US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin the day before, the German Defense Minister also visited, highlighting the West’s solid support.

This can be interpreted as a move to allay concerns that Western interest and support is cooling down following the start of the war between Israel and Hamas last month.

Germany’s additional support is more than 14 times the $100 million promised by the United States.

Germany plans to provide a large amount of air defense systems, artillery shells, and anti-tank mines.

Attention is focused on whether increased support from the West and the United States could be a variable in the stalled war in Ukraine.
