[디지털데일리 양민하 기자] “Artificial intelligence (AI) must go beyond simple technology in industrial settings and become a core tool for solving real-world problems. Siemens is thinking about what ‘industrial-level AI’ means and, through this, creating sustainable and practical value. We are working hard to create it.”

Manager Deokjin Jang, who has been leading the digital enterprise division of Siemens Korea Digital Industries (DI) since last October, emphasized this when he recently met at the Siemens office in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Siemens Korea DI participated in the ‘Automation and Components Show (SPS) 2024’ held in Nuremberg, Germany from the 12th (local time) to the 14th, enabling companies and machine manufacturers to simplify the entire production value chain from design to optimization with digital technology. , presented various technologies that help increase sustainability.

The key message Siemens wanted to convey at this exhibition was ‘Acceleration of digital transformation for a better future.’ Particular emphasis was placed on striking a balance between sustainability and productivity.

Manager Jang said, “When a predictive maintenance solution is used to diagnose a failure in advance, it provides not only the economic benefits of preventing failure, but also the sustainability value gained by using the product reliably for a long time.” He added, “All products at this exhibition are “We emphasized that this balance of sustainability and productivity is inherent in technology and technology.”

Siemens also made clear its intention to lead digital transformation by integrating hardware and software through its vision of being a ‘OneTech Company.’ It contains the will to deliver the value of overall digitalization through connection with industrial software beyond simple automation.

Manager Jang said, “At this exhibition, Siemens presented not only hardware performance, but also specific use cases of how it can be implemented in actual manufacturing sites through combination with software,” adding that Siemens’ digitalization value can solve realistic industrial problems. It was emphasized that it continues.

◆Siemens’ ‘Industrial AI’ strategy is

At SPS 2024, Siemens proved the practical operation possibility of generative AI technology in industrial sites through a collaboration example with ‘ThyssenKrupp Automation Engineering’. At the Siemens booth, ThyssenKrupp Automation Engineering and Siemens ‘Industrial Copilot’A demonstration of performing PLC engineering and configuring a line using was displayed.

Industrial Co-Pilot is an AI assistant developed jointly by Siemens and Microsoft that can quickly create and optimize complex automation code. Through this, ThyssenKrupp Automation Engineering has integrated Co-Pilot into its electric vehicle battery quality inspection equipment and plans to expand the application of AI-based engineering at business sites around the world starting in 2025.

Director Jang said, “When using AI in industrial settings, it must be approached from a thorough industrial perspective,” adding, “There are issues such as ‘hallucination’ where AI generates incorrect data, limitations of cloud-based large-scale AI models, and data security issues. “Sensitivity must be comprehensively considered,” he said. Siemens Industrial Co-Pilot is said to be a solution that solves these problems and suggests ways to utilize AI suitable for industrial sites through a multi-modal and on-device approach.

◆”Korea’s manufacturing industry accelerates digital transformation through collaboration → internalization”

In order to accelerate the digital transformation of the domestic manufacturing industry, Siemens Korea DI presented the establishment of an ecosystem and expansion of customer positive experiences through it as a key strategy.

Manager Jang said, “In order for digitalization to be applied in the Korean market, positive experiences must be gained through collaboration with suitable partners, as in the ThyssenKrupp case mentioned above.” He added, “We will build an ecosystem by collaborating with companies with different technologies.” “And by internalizing this in the future, we can further increase the speed and effectiveness of digital transformation.”

Among these, Siemens shares global application cases and provides a ‘Digital Thread’ tailored to customer goals. Through this, data is connected and managed throughout the product life cycle, and in particular, it supports customer-tailored digital transformation with the ‘Industrial Operations

Manager Jang said, “Recently, digital transformation itself has become a simple goal, and there are many cases where we do not think about ‘why we should do it.’” He added, “Siemens does not stop at simply providing technology, and each company achieves digital transformation with a clear direction.” “We provide specific guidelines and tools to promote this.”

Lastly, Manager Jang emphasized that Siemens Korea DI Digital Enterprise Headquarters aims to go beyond simple ‘localization’ in the domestic market and realize ‘glocalization’ that is recognized in the global market.

Manager Jang said, “The goal is not to simply implement digital transformation in a domestic manner, but to create a case that can be recognized in the global market based on this,” adding, “We have optimized Siemens’ diverse portfolio to suit the domestic industrial environment to create a successful local case.” “We will create and develop it into a reference that can be used in the global market,” he said.
