(Wonju = Yonhap News) Wonju City has completed the first installation of safety facilities to prevent electrical fires in 52 old senior centers, buildings used by safety-vulnerable groups.
The target is buildings used by safety-vulnerable groups where rapid evacuation in the event of a fire is difficult and casualties are at risk, and the project cost was fully borne by the city.
An Internet of Things (IoT)-based remote monitoring device for electrical safety monitoring and an automatic fire extinguishing device for small spaces that can extinguish electrical fires at an early stage were installed in the distribution box in the building.
A city official said on the 4th, “In order to protect the lives of safety-vulnerable groups and minimize property damage, we plan to continue supporting fire prevention and safety facilities in buildings used by safety-vulnerable groups in 2025.”

‘Operation of free national tax and local tax consultation day’ is well received
(Wonju = Yonhap News) Wonju City announced on the 4th that the ‘National Tax and Local Tax Free Consultation Day’ run in collaboration with village tax accountants is receiving a positive response.
It was designed to resolve tax blind spots through free tax counseling as well as customized counseling for citizens, and is held every Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. on the 9th floor of City Hall.
Starting on September 26th, the number of cases has increased every week and the barrier to entry has been lowered through word of mouth.
The village tax accountant is comprised of eight tax accountants from the Korea Tax Association who volunteer their talents to resolve questions about national and local taxes for citizens who have difficulty receiving tax consultations, such as small business owners, merchants in traditional markets, and the underprivileged.
A city official said, “We pushed for this because there are many citizens who have difficulties with tax issues due to the cost of consultation,” and added, “We will continue to strive to help many citizens resolve their tax concerns.”

(Wonju = Yonhap News) The Wonju City Lifelong Education Center Learning Center is recruiting students for the 6th one-day special lecture, ‘Add Happiness by Arming Shoulders’, for disabled people and their families from the 4th to the 15th.
The special lecture will be held as a face-to-face education at the learning center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 23rd of this month.
There are a total of three classes available, including ▲ making a succulent terrarium, ▲ making an emotional blackboard, and ▲ making a flower pot. Tuition is free, and the cost of materials is borne by the student.

Shinhan Bank executives and employees donate 12.3 million won in hometown love donations

(Wonju = Yonhap News) Shinhan Bank’s Gangwon headquarters presented a hometown love donation at the Wonju Mayor’s office on the 4th to revitalize the hometown love donation system.
Led by Shinhan Bank’s Gangwon headquarters, executives and employees of the Seoul headquarters participated, and 123 people donated 12.3 million won.
Kwon Oh-bok, head of Shinhan Bank’s Gangwon division, said, “I hope that participating in the Wonju Hometown Love Donation will be of some help in revitalizing the city’s local economy and resolving local issues.”
