Suspicion of reporting reduction of spouse’s building during last year’s general election
Court “All charges are convicted”
Kim Hong-geol appeals to “What was made from errors and mistakes”
On the 16th, the 21st Division of the Criminal Agreement of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Mi-ri) sentenced Rep. Kim Hong-geol, who was imprisoned for violating the Public Office Election Act, to a fine of 800,000 won.
On this day, the court said, “The property situation of the proportional representative congressional candidate is not recorded in the election bulletin sent individually to the electors, the defendant has no history of punishment for an election crime, the process of selecting a proportional candidate and the process of winning, publicly false facts. I took into account all the circumstances, such as the degree of justice and the balance of the elder brother with similar incidents.”
However, when he was sentenced to a fine of 800,000 won, Congressman Kim avoided invalidating the election. This is because he loses his position as a lawmaker only when a fine of 1 million won or more is confirmed for violation of the Public Official Election Act. In the decision trial held on the 27th of last month, the prosecution requested a fine of 1.5 million won from Rep. Kim. In the past, when he was a candidate for the 4-15 National Assembly election last year, he paid a deposit of 1 billion won in the shopping district and apartment rentals He was accused of reducing his property, including omission. Rep. Kim was expelled from the Democratic Party on suspicion of reporting a reduction in property. The prosecution indicted Kim without custody in October last year for violating the Public Office Election Act (publishing false facts). In his final statement, Rep. Kim appealed for a good cause, saying, “Everything is made out of errors and mistakes.”
