In the 4th thorough examination conducted earlier, 126 additional prisoners were confirmed.

Here, as it was confirmed that 5 additional prisoners who were transferred to the Gangwon North Prison were also infected.

So far, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to the Eastern Detention Center in Seoul totaled 944 nationwide.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Justice has moved unconfirmed prisoners to the southern prisons in Seoul and the northern prisons in Gangwon, leaving only 1,000 prisoners in the eastern detention center with a capacity of 2,000.

However, there are cases of infection again among prisoners who were tested negative and moved to other correctional facilities.

A second confirmed prisoner death was also reported.

One of the two confirmed at the Seoul detention center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi-do died.

It is reported that he suffered from high blood pressure, but after being confirmed on the 21st, he was receiving quarantine treatment in a detention center, and his condition worsened.

The Ministry of Justice explained that he tried to evacuate to an external medical facility, but died waiting in an ambulance after being notified that evacuation to a general hospital was difficult.

As a result, the number of Corona 19 deaths in correctional facilities increased to two.

The Ministry of Justice was belatedly working on countermeasures.

Over the next two weeks, we decided to raise the social distancing of all correctional facilities to three stages, and to strengthen the inmate diagnostic tests.

Yes, a new outbreak has occurred in a nursing home in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul.

After two nursing home officials were confirmed on the 29th of last month, an additional 14 people were tested positive.

As a result of the epidemiological investigation, the employees observed quarantine measures such as wearing masks and gowns.

It was found that most of the residents, who were patients, were not able to avoid contact infection due to insufficient wearing of masks.

In the elderly welfare facility in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, 35 people have been infected so far, including 20 users, after a worker was first confirmed on the 27th of last month.

At the nursing hospital in Guro-gu, Seoul, where the same group was quarantined due to the outbreak of confirmed cases, five more were confirmed, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases increased to 197.

The quarantine authorities explained that out of the 37 confirmed cases remaining in the hospital, 36 were moved to another hospital, and that the remaining one was expected to promptly take action.

In addition, we plan to support nursing staff to manage the remaining non-confirmed patients.
